Surf forecasts that read the break.

And a surf game built on the same waves.

The forecast app

A surf forecast written like a note from a mate who knows the break. Every spot is judged on its own seabed and on what a satellite saw there on days like today.

  • Reads each break. The reef or sandbank shapes the wave, so the forecast does too, using real depth and years of satellite passes.
  • Several wave models side by side, so you can see where they agree.
  • One score, 0 to 100, for the swell, period, direction, wind and tide that matter at that break.
  • A map of the line. Where the wave is expected to break, drawn on the break itself.

Try the real thing below: this week’s forecast, map and satellite view are live for the breaks.

The surf game

Realistic waves, arcade surfing. The sea is simulated from the physics of real breaking waves, and riding it takes two buttons.

  • Real breaks, built from the same seabeds the forecast reads.
  • Waves from physics, not canned animation: the wave steepens, peels and closes out as the bottom tells it to.

This week at the breaks

Seven-day preview for thirteen breaks, from the WSL tour plus Lighthouse in Fiji.
